Dolby 7.1
Coming to StageOne Sound
Stuart Bowling and Pascal Sijen of Dolby Laboratories San Francisco recently visited StageOne Sound to demonstrate Dolby's new digital cinema 7.1 surround sound format.
It is great to see Dolby continuing to innovate, push the boundaries and expand the possibilities of what we can achieve with sound for film makers and cinema audiences. It was a revealing demonstration and we were somewhat surprised at the real difference this format makes in the surround sound field.
Unfortunately it was all at the last minute, and principally a technical evaluation for the stage this time. However, we are talking to Dolby about providing some files and are expecting to be able to present an evening where industry professionals will have the opportunity to experience this new format and talk with Dolby representatives.
StageOne is currently commissioning new systems and software so that mixing & reviewing in 3D will be available in the first quarter of 2011.
